A school for the underprivileged in Bangalore would welcome your story book contribution. Their wish list on Amazon is here. A story book collection drive launched in 2009 was successful, but I wish to continue the effort.

Shades of grey

The fierce sun
Batters the scorching tar road;
Far ahead
The sea shimmers like a silken cord;
The day it turns into the night
Night into the day;
Yet as time flees
Shadows of grey remain;
Uncertainty gnaws my soul
Tearing into it, bit by bit, each day.

Look what I got as gifts from across the seas...

Dear Readers,

Some months ago, I picked up a book on beading. I must admit that I have not gotten around to buying beads and other stuff and actually trying my hand out at making something. Nonetheless I did the next best thing. I began to follow various talented artists in blogsphere. One of them being Deci of Gem Trials

Deci recently hosted a give away and I won. In fact, I won much more than the beautiful wrap around purple bracelet. I received the package today and there was another sundance bracelet. Both courtesy of Calypso Studios.

But I was over the moon when I saw Deci's handcrafted gift to me. A pair of silver earnings with pretty blue beads. They are gorgeous.

So here are the gorgeous gifts for you to admire. And do pay a visit to Deci's blog - Gem Trials. I have also blog rolled it a long time ago.

Cheers,
Lubna

Happy Mother's Day

Dear Readers,
Commercialization sure has taken over. It is perhaps not as crazy as Valentine's Day but crazy nonetheless. Yet, there are so many better ways to pay homage to what a Mother truly stands for.
Marianne, my blogger friend, spent time volunteering in Afghanistan, where she met Suraya.Here is what she says: "I met and worked with Suraya when I was living in Herat, Afghanistan. She is founder and director of the women’s organisation that runs women’s shelters to protect and support women fleeing violent homes or forced marriages. It is courageous and deeply compassionate work. Suraya is a courageous and deeply compassionate woman."
Do you want to help Suraya to continue with her good work? Hop across to Marianne's blog and learn how. Click here.
Each and every penny counts.
So do contribute and spread this message around. And enjoy this music.
Happy Mother's Day.
Best,
Lubna
