Is Friendship taking on a new dimension?

Hi all,

Would love your thoughts on this. Is the dynamics of friendship changing? I find I am able to be in touch with friends who use Gmail and can pop up randomly for a good chat over Gmail chat box (something that does not need to be downloaded on my office lap top). With others, I have lost contact, more or less.
I met a friend, yesterday, over lunch after what seems like ages. I have been planning to meet several other friends residing in the same city, it has not happened.
Another friend of mine prefers to talk over the phone rather than use email (she resides in another city) guess we have grown apart due to this difference in habit.
Do you also find yourself drifting away, if you and your friend are not technologically compatible? (My friends are scattered across the globe and email is a blessing, yet thanks to Gmail chat, I seem not to remain in touch even via email). It is such a scary thought...

Read this book

I know I neglect my other blog where I only very occassionally review books that really touch me. Here is a review.
Please do read it and if possible read the book - Go Kiss the World. It is worth a read.

I am not creative! - Bah

Hi all,

At times, people do come up and tell me: "I want to write, but I am not creative", or send me emails to this effect. This brings me back to a question I had posted here earlier, "What is creativity?" Each and every person is creative, it is just that over the years one begins to act like others want him or her to act - the work place persona, which takes over even real life.

To begin writing, whether fiction or non fiction or better still a combination of both (click here for samples of that) one needs to do the following:

1) Think you are a five year old, with no inhibitions, no fears

2) Just pick up that pen, or rather open word on your laptop/PC and begin tapping away

3) Write for yourself first. Write about what you know best.

4) Treat it as fun, don't be serious about it - learn to laugh at yourself

5) Adopt an open mind, be receptive, keep on learning

Now I wish you all: Happy writing.

The new Bengaluru airport

Well, almost everyone has written how far it is from the main city - so I will not crib about it. Actually, it is not that bad, it is just that Bengaluruians are not used to long distances. (I mean it does take two hours to reach the Santacruz domestic airport in Mumbai from South Mumbai).

But I do have cribs about this new airport. It is not senior citizen friendly.

I went to pick up my father today and these were the issues:
1) Signs on the conveyer belt - could they not have been larger? My dad could hardly read them and could not thus find out on which conveyer belt his luggage would arrive.
2) The car cannot be brought near the arrival gate, unlike in Bombay or even Delhi. Well, in both these places, you walk a little ahead and the car can come and pick you up. Here, my Dad had to walk till Parking lot number 3. Only taxis were allowed in the lane at the arrival gate itself.

But something needs to be done about signs. Sure tiny lettering looks neat, but it is not helpful. I could also not find the Jet airways counter at all, that was missing! (Will look for it next time) One may say, senior citizens can plonk themselves in a wheel chair and that is the end of their misery. But, most of them do like to be self sufficient.
