Hi all,
At times, people do come up and tell me: "I want to write, but I am not creative", or send me emails to this effect. This brings me back to a question I had posted here earlier, "What is creativity?" Each and every person is creative, it is just that over the years one begins to act like others want him or her to act - the work place persona, which takes over even real life.
To begin writing, whether fiction or non fiction or better still a combination of both (click here for samples of that) one needs to do the following:
1) Think you are a five year old, with no inhibitions, no fears
2) Just pick up that pen, or rather open word on your laptop/PC and begin tapping away
3) Write for yourself first. Write about what you know best.
4) Treat it as fun, don't be serious about it - learn to laugh at yourself
5) Adopt an open mind, be receptive, keep on learning
Now I wish you all: Happy writing.
Best

Hi Lubna,
Couldn't agree with you more. Creativity is within everyone, in the sense that it can be something really powerful that needs to come out. It could be a feeling, a memory, a thought or a visualization... it grows and feeds on itself and then manifests itself through creative expression. Ironically, creativity is the most underrated and overrated thing from time to time!

Umair.
